As per a discussion at the end of our last meeting, I think a next possible step is to develop a strategic plan for the group, the project, “the next step – or steps” etc. This process would include defining interests, values, goals, an action plan, and criteria for evaluation. The process could, and hopefully would, include anyone who has a vested interest or ideas to share that may be beneficial to the development of this group and initiative it may take in the future.

Having expertise or knowledge in certain area is reason enough to contribute to the process even if one’s involvement in the actual fruition of any ideas is in question.

So, as you can see, we are still in the ideas generating phase, though we are well on our way. Next we need to identify where we want to go with what ideas we value the most and believe to be achievable – which is not to say that there may be many new ideas generated in the process!

OK, I hope people can either a) do a bit of research or ponder (meditate upon!) directions for this group or, b) come to the next meeting and contribute to discussion about how to achieve whatever they think would be of value to the community currently interested in Buddhist hospice.

One more disclaimer, I do not want it to sound like the next meeting will be like all of the other brain storming and “what do we want to do” type meetings, but rather, the beginning of a process to develop some clear direction and action plans. We have already generated some really good ideas, now we need a plan of action! (This may be a multi-step process...)

Sounds Great Craig,

I think you're right that we definitely need a strategic plan that incorporates values, goals and a definite plan of action. At our next meeting I will have clearer ideas to discuss to see where we are all thinking of going with our group.

Today I am meeting with Susan MacDonald from Perran House to talk about different projects that she has been involved with at the facility. She would love to come to our next meeting, however she is off to New Zealand for a month. Susan has offered to meet and chat with people from Amitabha in Auckland New Zealand, which is run by Buddhist for the general population.

I think they might be a great resource.

Anyway, I'll be in touch over the next day or so to pick a time and place to meet up again.

Cheers.
